One or more Office Apps are installed in over 1.4 Billion Devices World Wide.  The Connected Experiences (CX) Page and Program within Office Experience Online (OXO) requires privacy consideration for all world wide users are addressed prior to any CX releases.  In preparation for in person audits from representatives from the EU and any other governments.  Documentation tracking required a transformation from a spread sheet to A SQL database dynamically connected to Power Apps entry forms and Power BI dashboards.  As well as all other operations of the Privacy CX Program.

Service Award Redesign Project

After decades of providing a trophy in 5 year increments of total service for Microsoft employees. The Service Award Team decided to enhance the program to include options for a cash reward to employees, or the third option of donating the cash award and having Microsoft’s charitable donations program match the amount.

Our CEO, Emmett Thompson led the initiative as Lead PM. Over the course of 4 months the core team and supporting teams were able to successfully impact more than 100K employees worldwide.

  • All three Service Award Options for US employees.
  • Additional Cash Option for all employees across remaining 108 subsidiaries and regions worldwide.
  • The project required elaborate coordination and a lot of soft skills across more than 20 internal and external teams.
  • Once the project successfully launched it was fully transitioned to the Service Award Program and Support teams.

OEM BizEx Division, Business Transparency Group – MS Dynamics CRM

Sirius Net Systems successfully managed and improved several programs for Microsoft’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Business Excellence Team (BizEx) for one year before transitioning the improved programs back to MS Employee management.

Approximately 1/3 of all of MS’s revenue comes through the OEM division.

MS Dynamics OEM Customer Resource Management (CRM) – Program & Project Management Services:
• OEM CRM manages and reports on over 9.9B in annual sales.
• Management & Process Improvement of existing OEM CRM installation. Includes numerous CRM Business Units (BU) for individual companies and an umbrella reporting system for performance comparisons.
• The most elaborate CRM Dynamics installation in the world: This is significant because typical Dynamic CRM installations only have one BU for the entire company. Because of OEM’s partnerships with multiple Manufactures including, Dell, HP, IBM and all others who bundle MS products with their hardware. Multiple BUs were created to insure propriety sales and order figures of one Partner can’t be seen by team members of another Partner.
• CRM Customization projects for full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Project included OEM projects, SMS&P projects, and projects from other teams outside OEM.
• Management of a large project development team (typically 2 month sprints) and a Rapid Response Team (1 or 2 week sprints).
• Preparation for migration from version 4.0 to 2011 version. Portfolio Management Services:
• After two months of working on the above MS Dynamics Program the Microsoft FTE who hired us left the company. SNS was selected to take over Management of the additional programs in the departing FTE’s portfolio.

Mission Objective: Migrate MSN’s FexCode to Bing API v1.0 for MScom’s Search.Microsoft.com.
Project Management services on the successfully completed project included:

Smart Error Handling at Live.com

Mission Objective: Analyze and develop a program to convert millions of page errors into millions of succesful searches for site users.

 

Sirius Net Systems co-creates and project manages the Smart Errors Program for Live.com. Program becomes a stand alone tool kit used by companies around the world.

LG Consulting searched for a strong project management professional with PMBOK training, years of large IT project experience and Bing experience to work on special initiatives for Live Search’s Group Product Manager. They selected and recommended Sirius Net Systems to Bing. The first project to go live was Smart Error handling, also known as 404 errors.

Project Management services on the successfully completed projects included: 
• Creating Decks and press release first draft, scheduling and participating in PR meetings to plan Kevin Johnson’s 8/6/08 Keynote at Search Marketing Expo (SMX) Advanced announcing project launch and tool kit launch. Prep included press release and Blog Messaging. Day of results included 4 print articles, 5 blog posts and 42 reposts.
• Smart Errors / 404 Project – PR / Marketing, Team Building. Cleaned up 75 million / month in error traffic and generated over 15 million per month of new searches in Live.
• 404 Toolkit – Over 10k downloads of tool kit in the first month, a good mix of neutral and positive press with no negative press.  Created Software Development Kit (SDK) from internally released code.  Branded ‘404 Toolkit’.

Domain Traffic Redirection Project

Mission Objective: Analyze and develop a program to convert millions of requsts for unused domains owned by Microsoft resulting in a generic site map display into millions of succesful searches for site users.

Along with an LG Consulting team member Sirius Net Systems co-created and project managed the Domain Traffic Redirection (DTR) project. A joint venture between Bing Search, formerly Live Search, and Microsoft.com a.k.a. MScom.

Over the years microsoft built up a library of domains comprised of defensive purchases, acquistions and fraud cases that were underutilized. The majoraty of these domains went to a generic Microsoft site map. Our project team devised a stratagy to utilize key parts of the domain name as a Bing search term and display the results for the user. This provided a greatly improved experience for the customer and increased Bing’s search traffic.

Project Management services on the successfully completed project included: 
• Managing project to direct inactive domains to Live search.
• Engaging DNS Team
• Hiring and managing SQL DBA and SQL development
• Scoping back end database needs
• Monthly search traffic is ranging from 30 million to 54 million queries.

Mission Objective: Analyze and develop a containment and verification program for Live.com awards.

 

Sirius Net Systems assists Club.Live with thier growing pains from rapid success.

Direct Technologies developed Club.Live, now ClubBing, on behalf of Live.com and functioned as both an onsite and off site vendor. The huge success of Club.Live caused a significant level of gaming fraud.

Program Management services on the successfully completed projects included:
• Managing Fraud & Support programs for club.live.com in the face of rapid growth of 2 Billion queries and 28 million unique users.
• Managed initial crises of overwhelming unchecked orders. Determined 80% of initial orders were fraudulent, cleared ok’d orders for shipment. Implemented solution that reduced fraudulent orders to 4%.
• Managing remote DirectApps team resources including Devs, DBA’s, Security Analyst, Dev PM’s, System Admin and QA
• Interacting with MS GPMs, PMs.
• Analyzed existing fraudulent order and game play techniques
• Envisioned and designed solutions to automate real time and batch detection and prevention.

AmEx Novel to Active Directory Migration Project

Mission Objective: Migrate all AmEx employees & external staff from Novel to MS Active Directory.

 

Sirius Net Systems designs Novel to Active Directory migration program for American Express’s 60k+ employees and 20k external staff world wide:

Every 7 years American Express (AmEx) awards a new IT support contract to support many of their IT needs world wide and to work with AmEx’s internal IT departments. As with many of these types of contracts between multi-billion dollar corporations sub contractors play a vital role.
COMSYS is one of the subcontractors IBM selected. Based on IBM’s needs COMSYS approached Sirius Net Systems (SNS) to assist with their support of the IBM / AmEx project work. COMSYS presented SNS to IBM due in part to their international project management experience, full spectrum IT experience, and previous fortune 500 experience.
An IBM program manager selected Sirius Net Systems to manage multiple projects. Most notably the Program design and individual project management for American Express’s employee migration from Novel to Microsoft Active Directory. Project Management services on the successfully completed projects included:
• Managing SAN to NAS Migration Program including decommissioning of legacy hardware.
• Designing and running Windows 2003 Active Directory migration program off of Novel for 80k+ users across the world. Building and managing each project team for individual group / organization migrations. Including servers, SAN, NAS, printers, multi-function devices, users, and PDA’s.
• Managing multiple file server refresh and decommission projects.
• Utilization of multiple IBM / AmEx web based tools. Rational Portfolio Manager, Lotus Notes.
• Managing global resources for project life cycles.
• Regular and ongoing preparation and utilization of Scope of Work, Communication Plans, Project Plans, Requirements Confirmation, Completion Criteria, Risk Analysis, Issue Logs/Tracking, Action Items, Project Completion Letters, Lessons Learned, and budget/actual documents. Project Management Review process & Project Control Books.
• Six Sigma, Lean, & Kaizen training & utilization. Ongoing Project Management and tool training.
• Creating power point decks and making presentations. Typical audience: VP’s, Directors GPMs (First Lines), and PMs. Analyzing desired objectives and using decks as high level description of our findings and our proposed solutions. Content was collected from interviews, analysis of multiple data sources and individuals.

Mission Objective: Manage the analysis, coding and roll out of the latest US MSN Shopping code to select markets in APAC and EMEA.

 

Shopping.MSN.com selected HCL as an onsite vendor to manage the analysis, coding and roll out of the latest US MSN Shopping code to select markets in Asia, Pacific, Canada (APAC) and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
HCL selected Sirius Net Systems (SNS) to manage the project because of their international business, cultural experience, full spectrum IT experience, and previous experience with another local fortune 500 company, Boeing. Project Management services on the successfully completed project included:
• Managing onshore and off shore HCL teams. Interacting with MS GPMs, PMs, and Devs.
• Full life cycle management of 32 front end (FE) Bugs: Triage, Approach, Documents, Reviews, Testing, Check in, and Deployment.
• Managing Localization & Deployment for international markets including APAC, EMEA. Including all server, cluster, backup, and fail over configurations.
• Management and configuration design of 11 Servers in Redmond test lab Data Center and over 50 servers for APAC and EMEA deployments.
• Managing Hot Fixes and New Bugs resulting from end to end testing.
• Smoke Test Plan creation and execution for various Locales.
• Utilizing Agile Scrum Sprint Method. Product Studio, Windows Test Tracking (WTT), Source Depot, SQL Server 2005 and other Microsoft Tools.
• Managed Integration or Set Up of Word Breaker, Speller, Ratings & Reviews, Nickname Services, SmartCat, and AutoMatcher.
